THE GREEN STUDIES READER: FROM ROMANTICISM TO ECOCRITICISM (London & New York: Routledge, 2000)

The Green Studies Reader explicitly made the case for recognising and respecting the natural world and for balancing an interest in mythology with an interest in ecology.

It had been partly inspired by reading Kate Soper’s What Is Nature? (extracts from which I included in the reader) – and in particular the part where she reminds those who declare there to be ‘no such thing as nature’ because everything is a linguistic construction that ‘it is not language which has a hole in its ozone layer’.
